Principal's Message

Dear FAAmily

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year. I am reminded of an old wedding planning tradition: something new, old, and borrowed.  1. Something new.  We have two new teachers this year: Mrs. Ayanna King in 1st-2nd and Mr. Bryan Donker in 5th-6th grade. In addition, we are introducing a new Career Education emphasis in the high school by adding a work-study program and duo credit classes.  2. Something old.  Once more, we will be dealing with Covid-19 this year. Therefore, we will need to be vigilant.  3. Something borrowed.  We know God is involved and in charge of FAA; consequently, we can rest assured of a successful year.

Fresno Adventist Academy exists to help students grow like Jesus grew in five areas: grace, wisdom, strength, maturity, and favor with others.  But how did he grow in these five areas?  What enabled him to grow?  In Philippians 2:5, Paul gives the key, “Your thinking should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.”  The Greek word for thinking is phoneo.  This word has two different and yet related meanings.  There is the thinking.  Then this thinking shows itself in corresponding outward behavior.   So how did Jesus think and act to help him grow in five areas?  Paul tells us how.  “Who being in the very nature of God did not consider equality with God something to be grasped but made himself nothing, taking on the very nature of a servant being made in human likeness.  And being found in appearance as a man humbled himself and became obedient to death even death on the cross.” Jesus made himself nothing, taking on the very nature of a servant, and humbled himself.  Humility is what enabled Jesus to grow.   In other words, Jesus buried himself in the soil of humble dependence of the Father and service to others.

If we wish to grow like Jesus grew, we must bury ourselves in the soil of humble dependence on Him and humble service to others. So, this year, let us think and act like Jesus.

Think Like Christ
